Yes, a few years ago at a pet store. I was terrified of them but curious. I had asked one of the girls that worked there if I could touch one and she pulled out a baby tangerine Honduran milk snake. It took me a few minutes to get the nerve to touch it but once I did it wasnt long before I was holding it myself, letting it slither in between my fingers and I fell in love. I held that thing for an hour, I just couldnt let it go and asked to hold something bigger. She pulled out a boa however it wasnt full grown. I put a down payment on the milk snake but when I got home and talked to Mom about it she didnt want it in the house.brbrMaybe some day Ill have my milk snake. It was the best experience once I got over the fear. Not sure Id be the same with a tarantula though. That would take a lot more convincing I think.

I really do not fear anything but fear itself, that upsets me the most. If I fear something that frightens me therefore I face my fears and then get over them. I hate to fear, so I refuse to accept that feeling. It was hard at first but I won over my fears, because I think the fear of GD is more to he point, I dont fear GD at all, and I believe that it would be wiser to know that if you are bad you are disappointing him so that would make me more sad than afraid, because I know there is no GD in heaven that is hateful and unforgiving. So I dont fear him either. I love him.

Is it possible for an autobiography to be entirely accurate? If not, is there a minimum level of truth we as readers have a right to expect, or should we treat memoirs like any other novel?

For me, this is a question of genre. Whats the difference between quotautobiographyquot and quotmemoirquot, if both purport to be true and written by the person who occupies the central perspective? Since memory is necessarily faulty it wont correspond to the actual quotfactsquot, we must expect a certain degree of fabrication. But this is a slippery slope, which leads us to blurring the lines between fiction and nonfiction. I find that the emotional truths derived from the text are far more important, and even more real, than any supposedly factual truths, but that doesnt amount to an excuse for misrepresenting a clearly ficionalized piece as memoir. It comes down to a sincerity of the author, who chooses a genre knowing full well the expectations of the audience based on that choice. The text remains valuable even Freys wholly debunked work has a unique value to it, in that it brings these questions to light despite the misrepresentations, but the community has spoken or rather, has vacantly agreed with the force of O Freys going back to flipping burgers.
